About the Author

Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina and raised in Allendale South Carolina, Jessica Youmans is truly a great,aspiring,intelligent young poet. She is sixteen years of age and resides in Allendale South Carolina with her parents Willie and Edna Youmans. She currently attends Allendale-Fairfax High School. She believes that with God all things are possible.  She enjoys writing, listening to music, and reading. Jessica wants to become an English Specialist one day and a writer during her leisure time

My Choice

To be who I want to be
Rise over the superior
Know where I want to go
And have a dream that would be everlasting
I can do all these things it's my choice

Overcoming unstoppable obstacles
Setting a personal goal
Conquering what's mine
Not giving up until it's done
Life is all about choices

Achieving the unachievable
Letting no one take over you
Show people that you can be intelligent
And perform the unbelievable
Believe it or not, it's my choice

You can be all that you can be
Or you can just let your intelligence fade away
Needless to say you control your destiny
It's all up to you
