The Crossroads is the story of a family around whom gravitate other important characters.  As they live their lives, they are challenged by those who are very close to them and tested by trying situations.  But thanks to the strong bond between the characters, the strength of love and the power of friendship, one sees the survival of what matters most in life.

Engaging and lyrical passages as well as touching personal letters by the characters are sure to attract the sensitive reader.  The writing is compassionate, moving, innovative and entertaining. 

The novel is realistic, with a romantic flavor.  Vibrant descriptions are so authentic that they'll remind you of people you know and places you've always loved, regardless of where you are.

About the Author

Victorien A. Assi was born in Côte D' Ivoire (Ivory Coast). He spoke five languages before coming to the United States. The author of The Crossroads can speak, read, and write a French, Spanish, and English, and currently is learning Japanese.  His literary works include "Back Home," a play performed at International House in New York.  He also wrote a non-fiction book, Methods and Techniques of Language Learning: The Secrets of Breaking Through at Any Age and Any Level. Mr. Assi was named International Scholar, then "Poet Laureate" at International House. Among his other awards are the Foreign Language Scholarship from the City University of New York and the Reader's Digest Association Scholarship. 
     Victorien Assi's avocation is ballroom dancing, and as a dancer he has been featured in The New York Times, the Daily News and the New York Post, New York City Lincoln Center Stage Bill-Features Page, and Time Out New York. 
     Mr. Assi who holds a master's degree in International Relations from the City University of New York, interned at the United Nations’ Headquarters in New York.  He has taught Economics at the City University of New York, and has traveled in many parts of the world including North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. “When I travel in any part of the world,” he says, “I learn about the people, their culture, and their ways of life in observing and absorbing fashions.”
