About the author/book

About the Author

Roy Young grew up in Robeson County, N.C. during the forties and fifties and experienced the great transitions taking place in the low country during that era. His labors stretched from the tobacco fields, to shrimp boats, and his greatest treasures are his memories of the many unique individuals of different races he knew and loved. Much of his writing attempts to re-capture the almost extinct culture he experienced.

His first novel is fiction. It tells the story of an average man whose life ends, and begins, with the tragic death of his young son. Wadus Strickland goes from the classroom to Central Prison in Raleigh, to the Governor's Manson. He is aware of, but does not understand, the unseen power that possesses his soul and mind. This cosmic force uses him to reshape the lives of many individuals and the political direction of the State of North Carolina.
