About
the book
Molly to the Rescue is a chapter book for children 8 years old and up,
as well as adults. If you love dogs, you will love this story.
What Others Are Saying
"Sally Hursey weaves heart and soul into the beautiful, true tale
of shelter-dog, Molly, and her journey to becoming an elite member of the
K9s for Warriors program. Molly's unbridled loyalty and tender tenacity
toward those who train her and love her will grab your heart and won't let
go. Though I've read many books about therapy dogs and service dogs,
Molly's story rises to the top of my 'favorites' pile. Bravo, Mrs. Hursey--Molly
to the Rescue will be on my 'to give' list for years to come."
-Donna Earnhardt, Being Frank (Flashlight Press, 2012)
"Thank you, Sally, for giving Molly a voice and shining a light on
what these remarkable animals can do for a veteran." Service Animal
Project
Sample of the Work:
"One night when I was on the bed snuggled up
next to Ann, she said, 'Molly, you've worked hard in your training, and
the veterinarian says your hips are fine. You've passed all of the tests.
Soon you'll take a special journey to meet your destiny.'"
"My days were filled with training and play time with other dogs.
I practiced down, stay, heel, and harder commands like block, side, and
cover."
"Tears ran down my warrior's face as he looked into my eyes. I
knew at that moment...I had found my home. His heart was broken like
mine."
