About the Author

Valerie was born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, to Italian immigrants from Rome, Italy, on April 7, 1925. She was one of four girls born to Lundy and Janet Guerrini.  As the story goes, the four girls were all named after famous Opera Stars from Italy by their Uncle Louis Quinio (a hair stylist from Italy), Janet’s brother.  This was told to me by my Mother’s older sister, Beatrice McFarland, who passed away on August 30, 2001.
